How accurate is this sweat calculator?

The tool provides a baseline estimate based on sport type, ambient temperature, and training intensity from published athletic cohorts. For precision down to the milligram, conduct a pre- and post-workout weigh-in combined with field patch testing.

Why focus on sodium rather than just total water intake?

Sodium is the primary extracellular electrolyte lost in sweat. Drinking plain water during heavy sweat losses can dilute blood plasma osmolarity, which is a risk factor associated with exercise-associated hyponatremia.

When should I take electrolytes around my workout or sauna session?

For high-intensity sessions or sauna exposure over 45 minutes, pre-hydrating 30–60 minutes prior helps maintain fluid balance. For multi-hour endurance bouts, sip continuously based on your hourly fluid and sodium deficit.
